OUR SERVICES 
Obstetrics

 

Dr Gannon delivers babies at St John of God Subiaco Hospital.

 

He has delivered over 5,000 babies. He trained at King Edward Memorial Hospital, the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin and St Mary's Hospital in London. He also worked as an Obstetrician in the public hospital system for 15 years - at both KEMH and Osborne Park Hospital.

Gynaecology

 

Dr Gannon operates regularly at St John of God Subiaco Hospital.

He is an experienced specialist Gynaecologist with an interest and expertise in all areas of gynaecological practice except Colposcopy, Transvaginal Mesh surgery and IVF. He had 12 months of advanced training in Urogynaecology in London.

Dr Gannon also operates occasionally at Bethesda Hospital.

Safety and Quality

 

Dr Gannon has always been determined the improve the safety and quality of women's health care.

 

He is the Chair of the Perinatal and Infant Mortality Committee at WA Health.

 

He is the President of MDA National, a leading provider of professional indemnity for medical practitioners across Australia.

 

He is Chair of St John of God Healthcare's national Obstetric & Midwifery Specialty Committee, the body that oversees their maternity services in WA and Victoria.

Dr Gannon is Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at St John of God Hospital Subiaco. He has also been a member of the hospital's Clinical Safety & Quality Committee for 13 years.

Midwifery

 

Midwives are a very important part of Dr Gannon's practice. Michelle and Nicola are both experienced Nurses and Midwives. Both also work on the Birth Suite at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. Michelle also works as a Nurse in the Emergency Department at SJOG Murdoch Hospital.

Nicola coordinates learning and development for the Midwives at SJOG Subiaco Hospital.

Public Health

 

Dr Gannon is a former President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA), both in WA and nationally. He has championed numerous public health initiatives, including an instrumental role in delivering free newborn hearing screening and free antenatal Pertussis vaccination programs for WA women.

Dr Gannon worked with Telethon Kids and Pfizer on the Matisse trial of the new RSV vaccine that is now reducing the rates of hospitalisation of children worldwide. 

Received the Hippocrates Award for service to Medicine in 2023
